Gavdetwè Se

Gavdetwè Se (/gav/ /ˈdetwɛ/ [clash] [tropical]) is a subtropical Town located in the Gesiēinsu Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Gavdetwè Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Gavdetwè Se was founded by Caralia Owaines, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Gavdetwè Se has a yearly average temperature of 30°C (86°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a blistering 34°C (93°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 27°C (80°F). Gavdetwè Se receives an average of 249 cm/y (98 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Gavdetwè Se covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 1920 m (6299 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Gavdetwè Se was founded durring the early 14th century in spring of the year 1339, by Caralia Owaines. The establishment of Gavdetwè Se was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Gavdetwè Se's construction back out of the project. Caralia Owaines pushed on reguardles, and Gavdetwè Se was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Gavdetwè Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Gavdetwè Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Gavdetwè Se is buildings are arranged within a network of spacious flagstone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks and fences to provide minimal protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. Gavdetwè Se's somewhat suffishent has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

Gavdetwè Se has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Gavdetwè Se ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. The locals seem to have responded to their slow downfall by recreating Gavdetwè Se as one of the strictest places imaginable. Everyone’s actions are clearly directed by laws they keep in heart and mind at all times. Orderly byond order is a phrase which the town brings to mind.

Gavdetwè Se has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Gavdetwè Se has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Gavdetwè Se has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Gavdetwè Se's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Gavdetwè Se possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Gavdetwè Se has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Gavdetwè Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Gavdetwè Se's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is recurring in Gavdetwè Se.

The Sandman near Gavdetwè Se are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Gavdetwè Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves ritual combat to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 3 via moments of science.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century a local hero by the name of saved most of the town when a natural disaster struck Gavdetwè Se. One of Gavdetwè Se's festivals remembers the hero.
